A Normal Cholesterol Level
In order to keep a normal cholesterol level, you’ll need to follow, and maintain, a healthy lifestyle. I know, it’s easier said than done. But if you’re asking, “How can I lower my cholesterol?” it’s something you need to know.
Keep this in mind — the older you get, the more important it is to maintain good eating habits. Which in part means avoiding foods that significantly raise your cholesterol levels. And conversely, move towards foods that reduce high cholesterol.
(If you need a brush up, here are some foods to lower cholesterol.)
Keeping Normal Cholesterol Level Readings
Keeping your cholesterol in an acceptable range is the key to not only looking younger but feeling increased vitality for an extended period of time. Normal generally means a total blood cholesterol level of under 200, with LDL (“bad”) cholesterol being no more than 40 of that total.
By reducing high cholesterol, you’re giving your heart a chance to do its job with a minimum of stress. This means more oxygen to your body, and in turn — more energy!
In other words, do you see yourself in a nursing home as you get older…or out on the dance floor? You know what I mean, though — you don’t just want to live longer, but also live healthier.
And to live better then, you need to take action now. It’s like the old saying, “If I’d have known I was going to live this long, I’d have taken better care of myself”.
Snacking is Allowed!
Snacking on “forbidden” foods now and then isn’t out of the question, as long as you don’t consume it excessively. Your primary problem might have been over eating the wrong foods on a consistent basis.
Sure, you can have that ice cream sundae every now and again. What you don’t want to do is make a habit of it. In other words, a few times a year is completely different from a few times a week!
No eating plan can succeed in the long term if you constantly feel deprived. The trick is to know when to say when. This may involve careful monitoring at times.
Cholesterol and Exercise
Exercise is an important part of maintaining your blood cholesterol level in the normal range. Make no mistake, it’s part of what helps you to maintain normal levels.
Every so often you might have to miss out on your regular exercise; that’s the way things go sometimes. However, if you begin skipping sessions, you could easily backslide into your old, sedentary ways. Fight the temptation!
Once you’ve achieved normal cholesterol levels, a good diet and exercise should be a natural part of your daily routine. In doing this, you will undoubtedly feel and look much healthier and very possibly younger as well!
